SUNY Sullivan Announces 2025-2026 Empire State Service Corps Program

Posted on April 7, 2025 by Tim Bruno

Students at SUNY Sullivan will have the opportunity to engage in paid service experiences that address community needs through the Empire State Service Corps program.

SUNY Sullivan announced its participation in the Empire State Service Corps (ESSC) program for the 2025-2026 academic year on April 7, 2025. The initiative, championed by Gov. Kathy Hochul, connects students with local organizations.

The program provides students with paid service opportunities that complement their studies while addressing community needs through collaboration with local organizations. ESS Corps will foster civic engagement and service among SUNY Sullivan students while strengthening partnerships with community organizations.

Those organizations, the college said in a press release, include local food banks and pantries, environmental conservation groups, youth programs and those that enhance access to education, healthcare and other essential services.

“The Empire State Service Corps program represents a significant investment in both SUNY Sullivan students and the Sullivan County community,” said Jaime Schmeiser, SUNY Sullivan director of workforce development. “The college is proud to be a part of this initiative and looks forward to a successful program year.”

Students can find more information or apply to the program at sunysullivan.edu/empire-state-service-corps/.

Community-based organizations and school districts in Sullivan County that are interested in hosting Empire State Service Corps members can also find more information on the college’s website or contact Schmeiser at jschmeiser@sunysullivan.edu or 845-434-5750 ext. 4320.
