SUNY Sullivan will host its 32nd Annual SpringFest: Kites, College and Community on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering a free, family-friendly event for the community.
The event, formerly known as Kite Festival, will feature professional kite flying demonstrations, free kites for the first 300 children, candy drops, and inflatable bouncy houses. The event will take place rain or shine.
Prospective students can also attend SUNY Sullivan’s Admissions Open House, offering campus tours, a presentation on the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), and information from admissions and financial aid staff. The Sullivan Promise Scholarship, which provides free tuition and fees for eligible Sullivan County residents graduating in 2025, will be highlighted. Free applications will be available, and students with transcripts can apply for instant acceptance.
Beyond kites and admissions, SpringFest will feature drone demonstrations, live farm animals, dance and theater performances, a student art show, and skills demonstrations by SUNY Sullivan’s men’s and women’s basketball teams. Food and craft vendors, as well as local and regional non-profit and community organizations, will be present. Visitors can also learn more about SUNY Sullivan’s nursing program, culinary program, and information sessions will be held with language arts and history faculty.
The event is co-sponsored by the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association and supported by Ellenville Regional Hospital, Kristt Kelly Office Systems, New York Life, and the Sullivan County Democrat. Proceeds benefit the SUNY Sullivan Foundation, which supports the college’s accessibility and affordability.
