A key section of Route 4001 (Elk Lake Drive) in Waymart Borough, Wayne County, will close starting Wednesday, July 9, as PennDOT begins a summer-long bridge replacement project over Van Auken Creek.
The closure, expected to last through the end of summer, is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the region. The bridge replacement will affect traffic in both directions, and PennDOT has established detour routes to guide motorists around the construction area.
Eastbound drivers should:
- Turn left onto Route 296
- Continue with a left onto Route 4002 (Stanton Drive)
- Turn left onto Elk Lake Drive
- Then left again back onto Route 690
Westbound drivers should:
- Turn right onto Elk Lake Drive
- Then right onto Route 4002 (Stanton Drive)
- Take a right onto Route 296
- Finally, turn right back onto Elk Lake Drive
PennDOT urges drivers to plan ahead, follow posted detour signs, and allow extra travel time.
