CALLICOON, NY — The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has announced that the Callicoon Bridge, also known as Interstate Bridge #7, will be closed to all traffic for approximately 48 hours starting at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20. The bridge spans the Delaware River, connecting Bridge Street in Callicoon, Sullivan County, with State Route 1016 in Damascus Township, Pennsylvania.
The closure is necessary to accommodate a concrete pour and is weather- and resource-dependent. A backup date of Thursday, August 21, has been set in case conditions delay the work.
During the closure, flaggers will be stationed at both ends of the bridge to allow emergency vehicles to pass. Pedestrians and bicyclists will still have access to the bridge during this time.
Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and exercise caution in the area. NYSDOT reminds drivers that “lives are on the line; slow down and move over for highway workers.”
