The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is advising motorists that the Callicoon Bridge—also known as Interstate Bridge #7—will be closed to all vehicular traffic for 24 hours beginning at 5 a.m. on Thursday, July 31.
The bridge, which spans the Delaware River and connects Bridge Street in the hamlet of Callicoon, NY, to State Route 1016 in Damascus Township, PA, will be shut down to accommodate a scheduled concrete pour.
Officials said the closure is weather- and resource-dependent. If work cannot be completed as planned, a backup closure date has been set for Monday, August 4.
During the 24-hour shutdown, flaggers will be stationed at both ends of the bridge to allow emergency vehicles to pass through if necessary. Pedestrians and bicyclists will still be able to cross the bridge during the closure, NYSDOT said.
Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and allow for additional travel time.
