My guest on this week’s “Living Jazz” show will be the pianist Kevin Hays. Some of you may have heard him live in July: He did concerts at the Tusten Theater in Narrowsburg on July 8 and 9. He’s one of the most interesting and versatile pianists of his generation. The New York Times once described him as “a jolt of joy,”
We’ll check out Kevin’s most recent albums, which are really beautiful, as well some of his earlier recordings with musicians such as Chris Potter and Steve Gadd. We’ll hear him singing as well as playing the piano. We’ll also get his take on several classic recordings by Sonny Rollins, with whom Kevin toured in the mid-1990s.
