The New Paltz Community Gardens for nutrition, a 50-year old community plot, has been reckoning with the impacts of climate change and unpredictable weather patterns.
Sitting just 100-feet from the Wallkill Riverbank and on a floodplain, the land was actually designated by the town for gardening due to its fertile nature. But as increasing rainfall and unseasonable cold spells impact growing conditions, it’s been hard for gardeners to maintain their typical yields.
