KINGSTON, NY — Ulster County’s Finance Commissioner Roseann Daw will leave her post at the end of July, County Executive Jen Metzger announced Tuesday. Daw is stepping down to address family matters, concluding a two-year tenure overseeing the county’s finances.
Daw, appointed in 2023, brought over 25 years of experience in accounting and management to the role. During her time as commissioner, officials credit her with strengthening the county’s fiscal oversight, modernizing internal processes, and advancing transparency in financial operations.
“We thank Roseann for her service to Ulster County and wish her the very best in her next professional chapter,” Metzger said in a statement. “Her work over the past two years helped strengthen internal financial processes and ensure transparency.”
Deputy Finance Commissioner Max Cordella will step in as Acting Commissioner beginning August 1. Cordella, who joined the department around the same time as Daw, has been managing a broad range of financial responsibilities within the department.
Cordella holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Columbia University and a master’s in finance and economics from the London School of Economics.
According to Metzger’s office, Cordella is “well-prepared to step into this position and maintain continuity in the Department of Finance” as the search for Daw’s permanent replacement begins.
