Volunteers play a vital role in the success of Radio Catskill.

Here are some of the ways you can help: 

  • Staff booths at local festivals and our music sales
  • Help with data entry and donor mailings
  • Audio production

We can also benefit from volunteers with other special skills, such as social media, graphic design, audio component research and repair, and news reporting and production.

Have a Program or Podcast Idea? Tell Us About It. 

We are always evaluating our programming and content offerings—including podcasts—to better serve our listeners and diversify the perspectives from around the Catskills and Northeast Pennsylvania.

Our broadcast schedule and digital programming, including on-demand podcasts, are carefully curated with our mission in mind. Every program is assessed using a variety of inputs, such as audience feedback, surveys, listener testimonials, and guidance from our Community Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB helps us stay in touch with what our listeners are thinking, feeling, and wanting more of.

Before you submit your program or podcast concept, spend some time listening to Radio Catskill at different times of the day and explore our on-demand offerings. Will your idea be a fresh, meaningful addition to our public media line-up? What sets it apart? How does it reflect our mission and resonate with public radio listeners in the Catskills and Northeast Pennsylvania?

Then, tell us about your idea. Whether you envision it as a live radio show, a pre-recorded broadcast, or a podcast series, please include the following in your proposal:

  • Your name and contact information (mailing address, phone, email)

  • Your relevant experience with the subject matter of your program or podcast

  • Your experience with broadcasting, podcasting, or audio production (a radio background is helpful but not required)

  • Proposed length (30 or 60 minutes, or other) and frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or seasonal)

  • A clear description of your concept—what’s it about?

  • Sample content or outline of a typical episode

  • Your target audience—who will this appeal to?

  • Why you believe this would be a valuable addition to Radio Catskill’s schedule or podcast library

Our team will review your written proposal. If we believe your concept offers a distinctive and engaging addition to our programming—whether on-air or as a podcast—and if there’s an appropriate opening in our schedule or podcast portfolio, we may invite you to produce a pilot episode.

Once completed, your pilot will be reviewed by our staff. We may suggest revisions to help align it more closely with our standards and audience. If approved, you’ll be asked to sign a Volunteer Producer’s Agreement acknowledging our policies and those of the Federal Communications Commission, which governs our broadcast operations.
